The origin of this type of insurance was in Europe about the year 1950 as a result of the big reconstruction works carried out after the Second World War.
Its purpose is to guarantee the damages that the full parts of the building construction may suffer and, in particular, the Building work itself, the materials and supplies in the construction place and also the machinery and auxiliary equipment for the construction.
The risks covered by this type of insurance include the damages caused by meteorological phenomena (rain, wind, earthquake, etc.), those arisen from faults or mistakes in the building works and the conventional risks (fire, robbery, explosions, etc.). As an option it can be covered the civil liability before damages created to third parties derived from the building works.
